Android Application Developers Now Brings MS Office On Smartphones, Sans Tablets

There is good news for android application developers with Microsoft announcing to release their version of Office software that would be compatible to function on android powered smartphones. However, for the time being they are staying away from developing any such software for iPads and tablets.

The version of MS Office package that Microsoft has developed is mostly identical to that of the iPhones. The application has advanced and clean visuals. The whole Office package consists of optimized version of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Users can now create stylesheets and documents right from their android smartphones directly, using this new application. The implications of such an application coming in the forefront are as follows –

  • Microsoft will be enabled to utilize android platform
  • Microsoft can play a dominant role over documental necessities on an android platform
  • Microsoft can re-invent itself in the age of android-boom

However, android application development agencies are not amused to see the company levying a yearly subscription for utilizing the advanced application. Microsoft had released the latest application of Office package for android gadgets on Google Play.

Experts of Microsoft, developing android applications have revealed that the latest version of the application effectively supports every nature of formatting. Users can simply view documents on their android smartphones and even edit them.

The latest application of Office for android platform is designed for lighter utilization only, involving basic editing purpose and creating simple documents. Users would find it difficult to manage a complex spreadsheet through this android application. The application would also come in handy to initiate basic editing of attachments that are sent through emails. This Office application from Microsoft also offers all advantages that are associated with any Windows based system of the company.

However, they have also informed that the application supports simple and basic formatting options and is devoid of offering any intense and deeper options that can be used to initiate creating complex spreadsheets and work related documents.

Several android application developers are certainly not amused with Microsoft dropping the idea to develop their latest Office application for android tablet gadgets. With the trend in the world IT sector, where traditional windows desktop computers are getting replaced with modern versions of android powered tablets it is also not clear whether Microsoft has deliberately dropped their idea to come up with an advanced Office platform for tablets. The company has also not mentioned any action plan to introduce any such application in the near future.

The latest application of Office for android smartphones is available on the US Play Store. In Addition, the app would also appear over 117 markets in 33 new languages for better user compatibility.
